PlayStation 4 - Rumors and Hopes

Post by Ryankr on Sat Jun 19, 2010 9:29 pm

Well i've heard that Sony may be using HVD's (Holographic Versatile Disks) which have an enormous storage capacity of up to 10TB! With storage like this it could certainly be possible to include Holograms in the upcoming Playstation, but there would be flaws to overcome, for instance how would you move? You would need either a large space or a moving floor of some sort. Hopefully technology will have progressed enough to be able to implement holograms in the upcoming consoles. There is also rumour of a HD TV tuner and a 1TB hard drive! So what are you hoping to see in the new PlayStation, which going by the trend should be seeing the light of day in 2012-3

Sony, Philips, TDK, Panasonic and Optware all plan to release 1 TB capacity discs in 2019 while Maxell plans one for early 2020 with a capacity of 500 GB and transfer rate of 20 MB/s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_Versatile_Disc)

1TB hard drive for PS3 or just generally?

Hard Drive, for like saved games and downloaded content off of the playstation network. The disks have up to 10TB with a high transfer rate. This means they can hold incredibly high quality and be played without lag
